                              Hann River Roadhouse
Hann River Roadhouse is a must stop if you have kids. It’s still a
top spot if you don’t. You’re likely to be greeted at the gate by the
resident emu Aussie - she’s super friendly, very nosey and doesn’t
mind pinching a feed of toast in the morning when you’re not
           looking.
Besides Aussie there’s a myriad of birds, wallabies, and kangaroos
to be fed and then there’s the donkey (donkey shower, that is) -
gather some firewood and crank her up. Fires are ok, which makes
a great camping experience even better.

The roadhouse offers camping - kids stay free - and
accommodation in a spacious shady area next to the Hann River
where you can wet a line and may even bag yourself a Barra.
There’s also a great spot with shelter and amenities set aside for
those travelling in larger groups, however, you will have to book to
           get in there.
Limited workshop services are available including towing, welding,
tyre repairs, trailer repairs and spare parts.

Accommodation: Single, double and family rooms, camping,
           caravan storage
Facilities: Meals and takeaways, licensed bar, fuel, toilets and
           showers

           Artemis Station
Artemis, still in the hands of descendants of the original owner
Frederick Shephard, is a working cattle station. Rocking up to
Artemis you can expect a good old-fashioned country welcome -
spend a night or two staying in the campground or cabins. Kids will
love the literal ‘barn yard of critters’ – from dogs, cattle and horses
           to goats and ducks.
Artemis is also popular with birdwatchers as the station is home to
a population of endangered Golden Shouldered Parrots, one of only
two on Cape York Peninsula. Bookings can be made by phoning Sue
           Shephard 07 4060 3264.

           Accommodation: Cabins, campground
           Facilities: Toilets, showers
