 Him.”  Chazal have explained the meaning of this pasuk in Gemara    תחַתּ םיִבּרַ םיִשׁנא לֹטִּל חרָכמ הָתּא ,אוּה ךְוּרבּ שׁוֹדקּה ךָל ןַתנֶּשׁ םיקִסֲעה
 Ketubot (111b) as clinging to the sages of the Torah, to spend time    ךָל וּיהיו ,ךָיקֶסֲעבּ ךָוּתרְָשׁיֶּשׁ ידֵכּ ,וֹתדּקְֻפּ לע שׁיִא לכּ דיִמֲעהלוּ ךְָתּרְמְשִׁמ

 observe them and learn from their actions and speech the proper    ,רוּבִּצבּ הלִּפְתִל וּלִּפא ,יאנְפּ וֹל חינּי אלֹ ףוֹסּבלֶּשׁ דע ,הדוֹבֲעו הרָוֹתִּמ

 Nowadays we see all too frequently that because of society's many sins,    הנקָ - הרָוֹת ירֵבדּ וֹל הנקֶּשׁ יִמ לכֶּשׁ ,'וּכו הרָוֹתּ וֹז - הָּתיב הָתנבּ :ל"ז ַ

 you  will  find  that  after  the  third  Shabbat  meal  groups  of  men  will  be    סח ,אליֵמִּמוּ ,םֹנִּהיגּה אוּה ןדֵֶע ןגּה ביִבס יִכּ ,'וּכו אבּה םלוֹעל תיבּ וֹל

 learning Torah and other groups of men will be  talking about idle and

 mundane matters.  Most certainly this idle talk will evolve into Lashon    תחַתּ ,הליִלחו סח ,תוֹיהִל אוּה חרָכמ ,ןדֵֶע ןגבּ תיבּ וֹל היהי אלֶֹּשׁכּ ,הליִלחו ְ
 Hara and foolishness and unruly language and cynicism.  Therefore one    תוֹבּהצ םינפּ םלוֹעה הזבּ רציּה וֹל הארְהֶשׁ תחַתו ,ןלצִּל אנמחרַ תוֹפִּלְקּה ידֵי ְ

                                                           ֲ

 or to listen to their empty words is in violation of this Aseh of “and cling    םידִגבּ שׁוּבל היהיֶּשׁ ,וילע וֹמצעבּ אוּה גרְֵטקַי םָשׁ ,המקְרִ יֵשׁוּבּלמבּ ךְליל
 to Him” in addition to violating the Lav of  “Do not follow the crowd to do    עשׁוֹהיו" :)'ג 'ג( הירְכזִבּ שׁרָֹפְמֶּשׁ וֹמכּ ,ויָתוֹנוֲֹע תאלחֵמ םיִשֲׂענּה םיִאוֹצּה

 groups of evil people.  Regarding this, Chazal have said that for every   .ה"הגהה ןאכּ דע
 moment one remains quiet, he merits a hidden spiritual radiance that is so
 lofty that even heavenly angels cannot comprehend its greatness.
