23 The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that
was under his hand; because the Lord was with him,
and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.
“I can imagine Mr. Potiphar’s wife was trying to get Jo-
seph to lay with her every time Mr. Potiphar wasn’t around.
The word of God tells us that Mr. Potiphar was very high in
rank. (Pharaoh’s captain of the guard to be exact.) So, I could
imagine that he had a gorgeous wife, so the temptation was
there to entice Joseph to fall weak, compromise, and disobey
God. But Joseph kept his integrity. He didn’t compromise, and
he obeyed God. We, too, will be faced with very tempting
situations. Still, like Joseph, we must not compromise, and we
must keep our integrity. I Corinthians 10:13 tells us there hath
no temptation taken you but such as is common to man. God
is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that
you are able but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape that we may be able to bear it. Joseph had a literal
physical way of escape; he took off running.”
The youth and Samaria laughed.
“When we are faced with temptation or compromising sit-
uations, we, too, are provided with a way of escape, given by
God himself. It is at that moment we must take advantage of
that escape. As we read further down, Joseph was punished
because he did not compromise and give in to the constant
temptation. We, too, may have to go through a little persecu-
tion and be ridiculed for not compromising with sin, flesh, and
worldly lust. I would rather go through the persecution and be
lied on and talked about than to disobey God. Joseph was
promoted, elevated, and rewarded for his suffering. I love the
way Pastor Joseph Prince says it; he said that Joseph was pro-
moted from the pit to the palace, from the Dunghill to Capitol
