amazing retirement after 30 years of
dedication to our communities. Thank you Ensuring that students have access to technology is very important
for their success in education and donors of the Hastings and Prince
Jim! Edward Learning Foundation made that possible with $75,000 in
funding for students of the Hastings and Prince Edward District
CHRIS’S LIVE BAITS School Board.
The additional funding was provided to fifteen local schools to help
them purchase interactive display boards, projectors, document
cameras, Chromebooks, iPads and other student related technology.
“We use the computers for Lexia to learn how to read and spell
words. Our classes uses Lexia everyday. We share the computers
with the Grade 2/3 class so they can do mind blowing math and
Lexia too,” said the Grade 1/2 class at Deseronto Public School.
“The Learning Foundation’s support of student learning through this
donation was greatly appreciated. The donated funds were used by
15 schools to replace aging technology in classrooms, such as
interactive whiteboards, Chromebooks, and tablets,” said Katherine
MacIver, Director of Education, Hastings Prince Edward District
School Board.
ADDITIONAL QUOTES
“Providing these funds to HPEDSB will help to ensure that more
students have access to modern technology, improving their
experience in today’s learning environment. This type of equipment
is not funded by the government, and some schools do not have the
capacity to fundraise for such purchases, resulting in students using
aging or outdated technology. These new tools will upgrade
classroom devices, which will help so many students on their
education journey.” said Kellie Brace, Executive Director of HPELF.
“We are so grateful for the donations that allow us to be contributing
to student learning in such a significant way.”
“The technology donation made by donors of the Hastings and
Prince Edward Learning Foundation is actually life-changing for our
school and the students as it would have taken us years to fundraise
enough money to pay for three new interactive boards in classrooms.
The technology opened up a whole new way of learning in
classrooms for our students, and we are very grateful to donors,” said
Tanya Whittaker, Principal, Prince Charles Public School.
