SCROLLS
        TEARDROPS
To do a teardrop, load your round brush in the LV (that is mixed with linseed oil). Hold your brush straight up and down. Touch the tip of the brush lightly to the surface and pull a narrow line out a short distance stop, press down on the brush and lift straight up and off the surface. Keep repeating again, make each stroke shorter and smaller.
To do a two-toned stroke, pull the tip of the brush through the paint, go lightly so you can just see a small amount of color
on the tip. Now paint the teardrop like before, place the tip on the surface, pull out a short line, stop and press down and lift straight up and off the surface. Now you can see two different colors. Lightly wipe off the tip on your paper towel, and go to the dark color (Black or Raw Umber).
LINEWORK
To do the linework on the design, refer to the color photo. Fill the JS liner brush full of the color (that has linseed oil added to it). Lightly touch the surface and pull a curved line, repeat for the second that is a little shorter and then start the third line that is shorter yet.
For the finishing linework, use the LV of green and freehand the lines and teardrops. Refer to the color photo for placement. DECORATIVEPAINTERS.ORG 93
