results pop up, each catering to students who feel they made a wrong choice somewhere
Adown the road.
If this may not seem alarming, consider the National Mental Health Survey released by NIMHANS.
Of all the students part of the survey,
• 20% had succumbed to suicidal thoughts
• 9% had tried committing suicide
• 20% reported to have tried to injure themselves
The survey went on to state the reason behind these thoughts being career-related frustration
and depression due to loneliness.
The problems of our education system are rooted in one simple problem - “a Gap of Knowledge”.
Students can never make an informed choice without knowing the nuts and bolts of every choice
at their disposal.
This need for students to know brings us to the objective of the ReviewAdda magazine. A wrong
decision has consequences, some of which have already been described. Every page of this magazine
strives to inform students about what lies beyond the rosy gates of colleges and universities.
No one can argue the fact that a majority of students taking the leap from a school to college are
not well-informed. The consequences of this are many and far-reaching, some of which include –
• Higher drop out ratio in universities and colleges as students grow increasingly disillusioned
with their field of study.
• Lower average career growth as even students graduating from universities and colleges
do not have interest in their field of work.
• In schools, some students are misled by coaching institutes into joining low-tier private
colleges.
• Awareness of new fields of study is largely absent.
• General perception of even good schools, colleges, and universities is getting eroded as
incoming students are increasingly ill-informed.
The answer to all these problems is making students better informed about the career choices they
have. Not everyone can afford career counsellors, which is why we at ReviewAdda have tried to
solve this problem to some extent with this magazine.
The goal of the ReviewAdda magazine is to make sure all students know what they have to before
taking the big decision of choosing a course and college.
We hope the magazine meets this goal.

This magazine would not have been possible without the inputs of Shri Chandra
Kumar Jain (IIT Delhi, MBA - UC Berkeley), Prof. Samir Chatterjee (IIT
Kharagpur), and Ms Radhika Pillai (IIIT Hyderabad). Their guidance made the most
difficult moments easier. We also owe a sincere debt of gratitude to Chankiya Bora
for suggesting meticulous edits at crucial stages. ”
