Style: in the
fitting room
• Give her a maternity top when she tries on pants. This way
she can see the complete look and the top will cover the
band and any excess material.
• Use the belly pillow to show the customer how the pants will
grow with her throughout her pregnancy.
• Have her sit down in the pants to make sure they are
comfortable.
• Convincing her to try on pants is the best way to be able to
demonstrate the FAB. As we say, “to try it is to love it!” She
will feel reassured when you resolve her discomfort challenge
and will be in the right frame of mind to try on all available fits.
CONFIRM HER SIZE:
• In the fitting room, measure her hips (according to size chart)
CONFIRM HER PREGNANCY STAGE
• If she buys her pants before 19 weeks:
make sure you can pinch 1 to 2 inches
at the hip area and at the waist. The pant 1”- 2”
should fit until the end of her 2 trimester.
nd
• If she buys her pants between 20 weeks
and 29 weeks: pinch 2 to 3 inches at the
hip area and at the waist. The pant should 2”- 3”
fit until the end of the pregnancy.
A maternity pant is created to fit for a 10 to 15 pound weight
gain or a 3 inch increase at the hips and an 8 inch increase at the
waist. During any pregnancy, a woman will continuously change
sizes.
THE PANT SHE BUYS BEFORE 19 WEEKS WILL MOST LIKELY
NOT FIT WHEN SHE IS PAST 30 WEEKS because her body has
changed during that period.
***Denim fabric: The stretch ability of denim doesn’t have much
to do with the spandex %. It is all about the weaving technique.
Mom-to-be must feel them and pull them to confirm the stretch.
We cannot stress enough the importance of trying on jeans for
herself. Have her move and be conscious of how the fabric feels
on her skin.
