Transforming the way we work is not a ‘nice-to have’. It is the

only way to make sure we provide the services our residents
expect and demand –now and in the future. Most organisations

are looking at what they do and how they do it. Smart Working is

at the heart of transforming and streamlining Havering.

In essence, the footprint of work is being reduced. This includes

the financial costs and the environmental costs (e.g. in relation

to use of buildings, resources, and travel).

Business continuity will be enhanced by the ability to work with

the latest IT systems and from a much wider range of locations.

As a result of the greater flexibility and agility, teams will

become more adaptable to change, and service to our residents

will keep improving.

Staff recruitment and retention will rise, particularly for key

workers (where working environment can be a
