boat, “Bamboozle”, the 14 ft Merlin Rocket dinghy Ruth and I bought in the second year
of our marriage. “Bamboozle” still lives with us today!

            WATER FESTIVAL
One of Vesta's very first “special events” was to take part in a Grand Parade around
Lincoln's Brayford Pool, (the large, lake like spread of water in the centre of the City).

The event was the very first Lincoln Water Festival, in 1973, organised by representatives
of all the local boating clubs and societies within the County. Ruth and I were now firmly
established members of the Boston Motor Yacht Club with 'Vesta' and our committee
chose three members to form part of the Water Festival organisers. I was responsible for
            publicity!
The event was hugely successful with things for boating visitors to see and do over a long
week end in the city centre.
There were also events for non boat owning visitors and the general public. Trade stands
and entertainment spread along the entire length of the waterside for two full days.

For the big moment, Vesta was “dressed overall”, (lots of flags) and our special guest for
the event was the M.P. for Lincoln Dick Taverne, a Labour representative, London
Barrister and a sailing man himself.

The Vesta Story.............continued. Picture shows Vesta at Stamp End Lincoln on the
River Witham, the large patch on the bow is easy to see.
