CHAPTER ELEVEN
            “THE MORRIS COWLEY STORY”
and memories of the BDS in Lincolnshire at the ‘Best of Times’.

            From about 1985
Sue, the subject of our Morris Cowley story was a remarkable lady, the kind who one
encounters just once or twice in one’s life and who leaves an indelible impression.

Whilst driving horses and ponies for our pleasure in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s we
had joined the British Driving Society Lincolnshire Branch.
Who gave us our first introduction, slips my mind but at our very first Sunday meet, Sue
came and introduced herself. She explained that she was the ‘Area Commissioner’ for
            Lincolnshire.
The effective ‘ boss’ who ran the branch in our County.

She explained that she was pleased to see us sporting the proper headgear, with
appropriate aprons and gloves. Still being very ‘green’ to the world of carriage driving, we
were most fortunate in that she gave us some very valuable tips on harnessing and
            equally important, driving etiquette.
