Picture of Jupiter with the same four wheel “Confolon” market cart as used at Belton
House, with Sue and Bob Goffin immediately behind.
Jupiter was relatively young for this kind of event and always very eager.
Due to this I kept him well to the rear and away from the smaller vehicles and ponies as he
could be somewhat intimidating!
We circled the cricket pitch after the presentation and saying our individual “thank you’s”
and departed for the drive across the front of the house and through a clock tower arch
towards the main entrance.
It would be just our luck that as we passed under the arch the clock struck the hour, Jupiter
accelerated like a veritable sports car and in a flash overtook a smaller carriage and large
pony whilst still within the archway.
The couple in that smaller carriage have never forgotten the event, although it was all over
in a flash.
From that day they always gave Jupiter a wide berth and made sure they were behind him.
