TJ Safe Site Rules for Customers

                •  A traffic system operates on entering some of our sites. Road signs such as speed
                   limits stop, no exit and crossing signs are located at various points and are clearly
                   visible. All signs on site must be obeyed at all times.  Please take note of them they
                   are there for all our safety
                •  The  first  point  of  contact  for  most  customers  will  be  in  the  Weighbridge.  Clear
                   instructions are provided to visiting drivers unfamiliar with the site. A site plan will be
                   provided and directions given.  Site plan will be provided on the change of routes etc.
                •  Site rules and an Induction will be provided to all customers. A signature and details
                   of recipient must be obtained upon receipt of site rules. A log must be used to record
                   who has received this information. A brief outline of general H&S guidelines and
                   contractor specific information will be provided. A refresher will be provided on any
                   major changes to site and will be subject to ongoing review.
                •  Whilst visiting this site you must wear safety boots, a high visibility jacket, hard hat
                   and safety glasses.  If you do not have these items, please ask.
                •  The TJ Health and Safety Policy and Risk Assessment Documents are available on
                   request from the main office.
                •  Traffic management on site is controlled by the site supervisor and the  reversing
                   assistant, when driving or walking on site he/she must be obeyed at all times.
                •  When walking on site pathways these are clearly defined to direct pedestrians around
                   the site and must be used at all times. Crossing points and refuges are also provided
                   throughout the site these are suitably marked and signposted. The crossing points
                   have  been  located  to  ensure  that  the  machine  operators  can  see  clearly  in  all
                   directions. Please make sure that you have the drivers attention and have made eye
                   contact before crossing.
                •  Inspections are regularly carried out to ensure that the road and site conditions are
                   fit for purpose. However, some parts of the site have rough and uneven surfaces,
                   please exercise care when walking around the site.
                •  We have a lot of mobile & static plant operating on site, as well as customer vehicles
                   moving around on site.  Do not approach any plant, vehicle or machinery at any time.
                •  With regard to tipping, discharging and loading please where possible stay in your
                   cab and when tipping only pull forward a maximum of 4 metres with skips or bodies
                   in the tipped position.
                •  In the event of First Aid being required, please contact a TJ Waste representative.
                   The first aid point is located in the weighbridge office.
                •  We  operate  an  accident/incident  reporting  procedure.  Please  inform  us  of  any
                   accident/incident, however small.
                •  In the event of a fire, the alarm will sound, please assemble at the fire
                   assembly point at the site’s main gate.
                •  In the unlikely event of an emergency necessitating the evacuation of the
                   site, you will be escorted to the assembly point by the TJ representative.
                •  We operate a No Smoking policy on our site
                •  Due to the nature of our industry, please wash your hands before eating, drinking or
                   smoking.
                •  TJ operate a strict disciplinary procedure for safety breaches. All customers/drivers
                   will receive  one verbal warning, followed by  one written warning to their  relevant
                   employer stating the breach of procedure. If the customer/driver continues with the
                   behaviour, they will be asked not to return to the site.
