TJ Safe Site Rules for Staff
• Road signs such as speed limits stop, no exit and crossing signs are located at various
points and are clearly visible. All signs on site must be obeyed at all times.
• A general induction will be provided for all new staff before they are allowed on site.
Each new staff member will receive a handbook containing information such as
permitted site movements. Records of this induction will be kept in the main office and
a copy they have access to will be kept in a personal file in the mess room.
• Whilst on site you must wear safety boots, a high visibility jacket, hard hat, safety
glasses, ear potection and respiratory protective equipment where appropriate. If you
do not have these items or need replacements, please contact the operations office.
• TJ Health and Safety Policy and Risk Assessment Documents are available on
request from the main office.
• Traffic management on site is controlled by the site supervisor and reversing
assistants, when driving on site he/she must be obeyed at all times.
• When walking on site, pathways are clearly defined to direct pedestrians around the
site and these must be used at all times. Crossing points and refuges are also
provided throughout the site these are suitably marked and signposted. The crossing
points have been located to ensure that the machine operators can see clearly in all
directions. Please make sure that you have the drivers attention before crossing.
• Inspections are regularly carried out to ensure that the road and site conditions are fit
for purpose. However, some parts of the site have rough and uneven surfaces, please
exercise care when walking around the site.
• We have a lot of mobile & static plant operating on site, as well as customer vehicles
moving around on site. Do not approach any plant, vehicle or machinery unless
authorised or having attracted the attention of the operator.
• In the event of First Aid being required, please contact your nearest first aider, he/she
will be wearing a green hard hat. The main first aid point is located in the weighbridge
office.
• We operate an accident/incident reporting procedure. Please inform us of any
accident/incident, however small.
• In the event of a fire, the alarm will sound, please assemble at the fire assembly point
at the site’s main gate.
• In the unlikely event of an emergency necessitating the evacuation of the site, make
your way to the assembly point.
• We operate a No Smoking policy on our sites.
• Due to the nature of our industry, please wash your hands before eating, drinking or
smoking.
• TJ operate a strict disciplinary procedure for health and safety breaches. All staff will
receive one verbal warning, followed by one written warning stating the breach of
procedure. If the customer/driver continues with the behaviour, they will be asked
not to return to the site.
