Take a look at the video of Acrospire III and her attempts to cover Kingurra’s clean air shy kite run to the Race 2 finish
the five on board Kingurra, the effort to get spinnaker up for that short last leg had paid off. Full marks to those
steady and no movement hands of Scott on the helm.
It was a very close finish,
and a great tussle
between two boats
from a completely
different age of
sailing. I reckon
Acrospire was at
least 500m behind
us at mark C and it
was incredible how
Col and the
Acrospire crew of
six managed to pull
that back to just a few
meters over the next two
legs of the race.
Repeats of these nail biting finishers were to
follow with Akala and Sirocco followed

by Martini and Snow Goosebut but
E mark has Kingurra holding off
first, let’s get back to how the
her turn in preparation for Race 2 start went.
