On Saturday, October 28, 66 volunteers
Made A Difference at Red Rock Canyon.
These volunteers contributed 362.5 hours
completing several maintenance projects
at the Red Rock Canyon Campground.
Set-up began bright and early at 6:30
a.m. and the registration team enjoyed a
beautiful sunrise in brisk temperatures.
Registration started at 7:00 a.m. with staff
members from the Bureau of Land
Management, Friends of Red Rock
Canyon, Great Basin Institute and the
Southern Nevada Conservancy assisting
the volunteers with several projects in the
campground.
The National Outdoor Leadership
School also provided 16 volunteers, who
were especially helpful in working on the
tent pads. The volunteers were treated to a
barbeque lunch, complements of Friends
of Red Rock Canyon.
The volunteers replaced tent pad frames
at 13 campsites, rebuilt and filled tent
pads with sand, installed new sign posts
to identify campsite numbers, planted 15
mesquite trees, lined campsites and walk-
ways with boulders and removed trash and
