Canyon’s Light Trail Maintenance
volunteer group. We work on the
first and third Mondays each month,
grooming trails and trailheads to
preserve a well-maintained look for
our visitors numbering in the
millions each year.
The Light Trail Maintenance vol-
unteers get to choose from a variety
of jobs: raking trails, sweeping park-
ing lots near trailheads, lining trails
with rocks where needed, picking up
garbage, light pruning of overgrowth
Welcome to author and extraordinary volunteer Susan
Murphy. Susan, a Friends member since 2012, is creator
and chair of the Light Trail Maintenance Team and is also
(very) active as a Trail Monitor and team member for
Natural Resources, Canyon Cleanup and the Native Plant
Teams. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking throughout
southern Nevada and making our world a better place.
