This integrated class combines an interdisciplinary approach to lab science and research with agricultural management principles.
Using skills and principles learned, students design systems and experiments to solve agricultural management issues facing the
industry. Also, students will connect the products created in class with industry activities to link real world encounters and implement
skills demanded by colleges and careers. The course culminates with an agriscience research project in which students design and
conduct an experiment to solve a relevant issue.

This course is the study of propagation, growth and care of plants used for landscaping, indoor use and the floriculture industry. The
class covers materials in plant science including: cells and functions of the cell, tissues, plant physiology, sexual and asexual
reproduction, nutrition, genetics, disease/control and cures, moisture management, plant dichotomy and classification. Safety and
the use of common agriculture equipment and chemicals are also covered. Class time is spent in the greenhouse and areas to be
landscaped. Membership in the FFA club is encouraged and participation in FFA activities is an integral part of curriculum. This course
may be used to fulfill 10 credits of the life science graduation requirement.

This course acquaints students with theories and principles of artistic design and the influence of floral artistry. The course emphasizes
knowledge and skills to provide students with a perceptual base leading to understanding artistic perception, creative expression,
historical and cultural context(s); aesthetic valuing and connections, relations and application of visual arts. Through practical skill
development the student will become familiar with materials, tools, design mechanics, maintenance and design evaluation. Students
will achieve this through creating, designing, identifying, explaining and evaluating topics of study.

This course will build upon the prerequisite course. Advanced Floral Design will increase the focus on the art of design, handling of
cut flowers, the mechanics of floral design, and the effects of retail in the floral industry. Students will learn about building and
designing displays, advertising, marketing, pricing and sales. Students will also develop floral design skills for use in industries such
as wedding, sympathy, and event floral work. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Art & History of Floral Design
