                                        Don't Give Up

You need to be creative and resourceful first to locate buyers,
and then to convince these buyers to offer your new product to
their customers. Keep new angles and new information coming to
the buyer. Know the fine line between being persistent and being
an annoyance. Sometimes you need to step back and give the buyer
time to hear the buzz about your company, see your product in a
competitor's store, or just think about it and try your samples out.

As you begin selling, you'll find you have less time for
adimir, isl:ral:ive tasks. When you have some profit coming in,
cor, sic:ler hiring someone to do tasks you don't have to do
yourself, such as assembling press kits, packing orders for
shipment, filing paperwork, or entering database informa-
tion. Make a concerted effort never to sacrifice time spent
trying to sell because you are doing the busy work.

                           Electronic Purchase Orders

Of course, purchase orders have kept up with the times and are now
often filed electronically, especially by larger chain stores. They use
what's called ED! (electronic data interchange), which is a paperless
system that allows buyers and sellers to exchange business docu
ments such as purchase orders, invoices, and shipping information.
Instead of faxing or mailing documents, more than 100,000 busi
nesses use ED! today. It's fast, effiCient, and computerized, so there
are fewer human errors and delays.

                                         How It Works

If you sell to a chain store that utilizes this method, you have to
get on board in order to do business with them. They will instruct
you on how to follow their particular system and they will recom
mend preferred partners to work with. They will likely have an ED!
