The courses taught in these schools will be not less than 140 classroom hours in length and will meet the
minimum curriculum requirements in order to give those completing the courses credit for certification.
This network of regional schools will put the majority of the peace officers in Texas within commuting
distance of a basic law enforcement training school.

Funds for organizing and coordinating the schools already in operation (excluding those already
established by other agencies) and the implementation of programs for the other eight are derived from
the Office of Law Enforcement Assistance Grant and matched by funds from the Texas Commission on
Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
