From the President
Paul Thompson
The Time is Now
The first few months as President of the Texas Police Association has confirmed my suspicion that no
other police organization is like TPA. As I speak to civic organizations, schools, and academies in regard
to TPA, I am proud of its history but even more excited about TPA’s future. The history and legacy of the
Association are only as great as a future that would preserve it. A successful sustainable future includes
a vision, a mission, a purpose and the leadership to execute.
VISION is to become the leading authority in the professional development of officers and agencies,
to serve their communities with a distinction that attracts public and corporate support culminating in
four strategic points:
1) Organizational Continuity,
2) Training and Education,
3) Memberships; and
4) Partnerships.
MISSION is to include every member into an aggressive outreach program to sustain and increase
membership. Additionally, TPA will aggressively work to increase corporate and community members
that support training and professional development and public education, all of which impacts the
viability of communities.
PURPOSE “TPA exists to make Texas communities safer and more economically viable.” This is
why we do, what we do.
The Leadership of TPA is nothing short of remarkable which includes the vice presidents are
their roles are as follows:
