Maintain Static Load Test Method Pile Dynamic Analysis (PDA) Test
One of the good examples in geotechnical related works is the process
of pile foundation design validation at site.
Conventionally, geotechnical engineer always specified maintain static
load test (Figure 1a) to validate the design bearing capacity of a pile
beside its performance in term of settlement. The maintain static load
test is normally utilise kentledge blocks that required large space, huge
amount of resources and sometime it may bring safety issue to the site
when the load involved is huge.
However, over the last few decades, some newer testing methods for
deep foundation have been established such as High Strain Dynamic
Load Test or most commonly referred as Pile Dynamic Analysis (PDA)
test, Bi-Directional Load Test (BDLT) or O-Cell test and Rapid Load
Test Method (RLT) or also known as Statnamic Load Test as shown in
Figure 1b, 1c and 1d respectively.
