Summary of Programme for Year 9:
Year 9 Art and Design Carousel. During the year all students get the opportunity to experience six mini projects that are linked to the subject areas available at GCSE level. Each of these GCSE endorsement ‘tasters’ are delivered by the subject specialists and groups rotate through each of the different areas on a half-termly basis. This experience provides not only a diverse and rich teaching experience but helps students make an informed choice for GCSE level. Art-based subject areas on offer at GCSE are 'Fine Art', 'Textile Design', 'Graphical Communication' and 'Art, Craft and Design'.
Does the Year 9 course include any elements of the GCSE?
We will touch on some aspects of the GCSE but will mainly be focusing on different topics/skills throughout Year 9.
Computer Science

Summary of Programme for Year 9:
Through Year 9, the course aims to give students the ability to understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science: analysing problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including designing, writing and debugging programs; thinking creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically; understanding the components that make up digital systems, and how they communicate with one another and with other systems; and understand the impacts of digital technology to the individual and to wider society. Topics covered include Game Development in Unity, JavaScript programming, Networks, Cybersecurity and the 'Internet of Things'.
Does the Year 9 course include any elements of the GCSE?
We will be starting on the full GCSE course early in order to cover key concepts.
