worth a pound of cure.” In the instance of your staff, “an ounce of understanding” in the beginning, is worth more than a “barrelful of misunderstanding” in the end.
So now the question before us is, “what criteria must be met in order to work on staff with our ministry team?” Let’s look at a few staff guidelines I feel must be met in
order to work with any ministry.
1. Potential staff members must embrace the vision of the ministry they desire to join.
The truth is, before you were in need of staff help, “the vision” was already in place. If your vision was not estab- lished, there would be no ministry for them to work with. Neither can they work with you if they cling to their own or a different vision. For a season, they must be willing
to lay aside their own aspirations to walk and work in the vision God has given birth to through the ordained lead- ership He has already set in place in your ministry.
The requiring factor is not whether the vision of your ministry can be “adjusted” to accommodate potential staff members, but whether they can lay aside all their aspira- tions, visions and ministries and become totally commit- ted to the vision of your ministry to which they say God has sent them?
It is imperative that nothing take precedent over the agreement to walk together in “the walk.” Once your road and route have been clearly defined and confirmed, if oth- ers are going to work with you, there must be “complete” agreement to “the walk,” or there is sure to be disunity.
2. They must clearly understand their role in your walk together.
There must be no false assumptions in meeting this re- quirement. There must be no doubt in the minds of those
