Hans Peter Oechslin explains a few background facts about Xavier Przezdziecki and Agnès

Rey, starting with the kennel name “du Montouchet de la Horde d'Or”: "I believe that one
was his kennel name, the other Mme Rey's. ... The two had met and fallen in love in Algeria. I
don't know the reason for the new name." ... The ancestors of her Sloughis seem to me to
be almost exclusively from Algeria. That applies to both sides (T. Liedtke) ... "Not exactly
true, they also had Sloughis from Morocco. ... Xavier Przezdziecki was an officer responsible

for a kind of census of the Touareg and their possessions, mainly camels, sheep, goats and
cattle. ... Later he worked for oil companies in Algeria." ... But he must have also been in
Syria, is that right? (T. Liedtke) ... "Yes, as an information officer in the 1930s."

Before X. Przezdziecki and A. Rey mated
the Saluki Jenna with the Sloughias Uranie,

her sister Une Belle, Myrjam d'Ain Gh'zel,
Maia du Montouchet de la Horde d'Or, her
sister Mousmee du Montouchet de la
Horde d'Or and Mandane de Kalinou del
Mirador, Sloughis originating mainly from

Algeria. The combination of X. Przezdziecki
(de la Horde d'Or) with A. Rey (du
Montouchet) gave rise to the kennel name

"du Montouchet de la Horde d'Or".
