At this point there is an interjection by Hans Peter Oechslin in an email to André Cadosh
dated 1 February 2011:

1. He and Susi Leimbacher received Laba'an and Loofah in the winter of 1979/80 (- This
cannot be the case. In Dr. John Burchard's letter of 17 November to Philipp U. Weber, he was
still looking for new owners of Laba'an II, Loofah and other Salukis from his breeding in
November 1980).

3. Laba'an II was examined by two Swiss specialists who knew that Xavier Przezdziecki and
Oechslin wanted to use him for breeding Sloughis (- the "specialists" were a Saluki breeder and
a Borzoi breeder. But the desire to mate with Sloughis is interesting)
4. Laba'an II was banned for use for breeding in Switzerland. His offspring were never
officially banned, on the contrary, they were extremely successful on the racetrack and at shows
(- which is in line with the assessment of Loofah by the SKG: a successful dog is desired and
encouraged).
5. Loofah was never mated to Laba'an II while she lived with Oechslin and Leimbacher,
Oechslin offered a paternity test which was not accepted by the Kennel Club (- the differing

opinions as to when Laba'an II and Loofah were with Oechslin/Leimbacher have already been
mentioned above. It is unlikely that the offspring of the two Salukis were born before the
winter of 1979/80 if Loofah was born in May 1978. However, Oechslin's statement is correct
in so far as Loofah was not bred by Oechslin and Leimbacher, but previously by Burchard at
his Al Khalij kennel as a Saluki litter).
6. Oechslin is still a member of the Kennel Club in Switzerland.
7. In 1986/87 Laba'an was 10 years old when the stories emerged, after which he was no
longer used for breeding (- according to Burchard's pedigree, Laba'an II Al Khalij was born in
October 1977 in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia).
