Because the offspring of Loofah with other Saluki males were very successful with the
Salukis, this matter was instigated to discredit Oechslin, but nobody was interested in the
        offspring of the Sloughis.
As far as Oechslin says in his email to André Cadosh, you have to realise that everyone closed
their eyes as long as it wasn't to their advantage. A few years of lack of success motivates you
to disregard the standard. In any case, it is pointless to apportion blame for past failures. In
addition, as Rüdiger Daub writes, there were certainly uncertainties at that time regarding
the affiliation of Sloughis and Salukis. But for the future it means taking a closer look again.
For example, in a letter from Mrs Inge Engelhardt to the VDH Board dated 18 April 1991, Mrs
Engelhardt wrote that during a visit to the Réunion d'Élevage of the French Special Club for
the Sloughi breed, "flocks of offspring of the male Laba'an al Khalij, who was banned from
breeding in Switzerland, appeared. Only a few animals were entered for the show. None of
these animals corresponded to the external appearance of the Sloughi breed. ... It is readily
admitted that up to 50% of the puppies have to be killed.

THE MOTIVATION FOR MIXING NORTH AFRICAN SLOUGHIS WITH MIDDLE
        EASTERN SALUKIS
These sighthounds, originally Salukis, which were and still are listed as "Sloughi" in the
pedigrees, were particularly interesting for racing. Xavier Przezdziecki was obviously a
passionate lover of sighthound racing. He was probably the main promoter of sighthound
racing in Algeria, from where there are also photos from the 1950s. There were also
sighthound races with Sloughis in Morocco for many years. All these events can be traced
in Dr. Dominique de Caprona's book "Sloughi".
