... In the early 70s or late 60s, mixed litters were registered in Israel, the short-haired ones
as Sloughis and the long-haired ones as Salukis. Unfortunately, I no longer have the source
for this (sighthound friend report on Salukis in Israel).

... I can say the following about the hunting trips: the sheikh who employed me flew to

Pakistan or Tanzania to hunt. He had a Saluki of mine that caught 4 gazelles alive in
        Tanzania (if I remember correctly).

... The Empty Quarter was mainly for hunting hares! Incidentally, most Emirati Salukis

were smooth, only a few were properly feathered at the time and these were mostly
imported from America, Europe and Bahrain.

...We relied on John Burchard's information back then!
John is a storyteller, that's true. Many of them are very entertaining!

...At that time, hunting with sighthounds was prohibited. Przezdziecki was looking for
Sloughis for racing and breeding, he lived in Algeria at the time. For him, racing was a

        substitute for hunting.

... Since I had Salukis and Sloughis back then, I can judge to some extent how they react.
There was no difference for me. But they were always hares, never larger game. If they
already have experience, they also know where and how to find hares, so they rummage

around in the bushes and when a hare jumps up, they really get going.

Thomas Liedtke:... So you don't see any difference between the Salukis from the Arabian
        Peninsula and the Sloughis?

Apart from the fact that the good Salukis are faster, the behaviour is the same. My Sloughis
were slightly faster than the local Salukis. My Salukis were much faster.
