Alfred Brehm wrote in the late 19th century:
“The noble Persian and the distinguished Turk hunt the gazelle with the same pleasure as
the Bedouin chief and the Sudanese. In the north of Africa, the firearm is the main weapon;
in Persia and in the heart of the desert, even in Egypt, the game is hunted with falcons or
hunted to death with sighthounds” [67].
