HAVING A COACH

IS LIFE CHANGING

Having a coach, or a mentor, provides the support we need to stay focused, provides guidance in
the development of realistic goals and expectations and provides accountability to stick to the
plan we create collaboratively.

Thirty years ago I was fortunate enough to attain some “success” in a business that I owned yet I
had no idea how to manage that business and all that came along with it. I hired a coach because
I knew without some guidance my business wouldn’t do as well as it possibly could. He spent four
hours a week with me, at my office, with my young daughter in tow, and showed me how to
handle my payroll, insurance, ensure I was making a profit and many more skills too numerous to
mention. My coach was instrumental in growing my business because he helped me learn what I
knew as well and more importantly what I didn’t know I didn’t know.

The piece that was missing was creating goals and a real plan, both for myself personally and my
business. Our lives are not divided into work and home. That balance everybody talks about is
part of the plan we create.
