non slip mats so all dogs had the same advantage.
Alastair was heavily involved with German Wirehaired Pointers, judging the breed at championship
shows and serving on the club committee. In 2003, he and his wife Janet bought a Slovakian Rough
Haired Pointer from the Ansona kennel. Only breeding one litter, a bitch went to Liza Brown who field
trialled her bitch Dangvord Dido at Brakabreeze with great success. Alastair was a kind person who
is sadly missed.
Costas Wilkinson (Vanwilkie)
Costa died suddenly in March 2020. He purchased
his first bitch, Heronshaw Silver from Dorothy
Chapman in 1977 and then became a member of
the WCGB, which he remained until his death. He
quickly became interested in working the breed
and together with Cymbal and later his homebred
dog Vanwilkie Nearly Napoleon he field trialled with
success. Costas later became interested in owning
and working German Wirehaired Pointers.
He served on the committee of the WCGB for many
years and took over the role of Field Trial Secretary
from Edward Hardman, a position that he held
for 10 years. He then continued to serve on the
Field Trial sub-committee. He was also the breed
representative for the HPRFTA. Costas was an A Panel Field Trial judge and was always happy to
judge at Gundog Working Tests and training days. Two years ago he judged at the European Cup in
Italy, which was a Weimaraner only event. A knowledgeable person about all working HPR breeds,
especially the Weimaraner.
Lynne Danneau (Aarranz)
Lynne lost her battle that she bravely fought for so
long in February 2021.
The dog world will miss her beautiful smiling face
and her warmth and kindness to others. She always
accepted her wins so modestly and her defeats with
praise and pleasure for the victors.
She took our breed to great heights winning Group 2
at Crufts with her beloved Logan and her love for her
dogs was wonderful to see, only matched by the joy
and love she had for her family. She leaves behind her
husband Wayne, her Mum and son and daughter plus
her beautiful grandchildren. Our hearts go out to them.
Lynne was a truly gracious lady, always immaculately
dressed in the ring and she handled her dogs to perfection. Her generosity was evident and she
always had time to help and guide newcomers to the show world.
Rest in peace dear Lynne until we meet again and please know that you are greatly missed and
loved by so many.
