Section 2 – Corn Head Safety
2.6.2 – Lifting/Lowering the Corn Head
Danger: Use only a suitable lifting unit for lowering or raising the corn head.
Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.
All the operations done with the aid of equipment like mechanical power-lift, cranes,
forklifts or slings must be carried out by personnel that are properly trained in this type
of operation. See table 9.1 for weight specifications.
Do not park or walk underneath the corn head/objects during the process of raising or lowering. The
equipment used to raise or lower the corn head must have an additional capacity of 25% of the weight of the
corn head as indicated on the metallic plate on the right side of the frame. Failure to follow these instructions
could result in bodily injury or death.
When lifting the corn head into shipping position attach suitable chains or lifting straps to the lifting brackets (A)
attached as shown. Do not attempt to lift the corn head using any other attachment points.
The large lifting bracket (A) that attaches to three row
units can be used to lift corn heads 8 rows and larger.
The small lifting bracket (B) that attaches to a single row
unit can be used to lift corn heads 8 rows and smaller.
Important: Failure to use the appropriate
lifting bracket may result in the bending of the
row unit frames.
