Removal of Hametz ‫סדר ביעור חמץ‬

On the night before Erev Pesah, we conduct the service of “Biur Hametz”, the removal of Hametz
from our homes. We wrap 10 pieces of Hametz in paper and spread them around the house.
Recite the Beracha:

.‫ברוך אתה אדני אלהינו מלך העולם אשר קדשנו במצותיו וצונו על ביעור חמץ‬

Then with the use of a candle, we conduct the search of the Hametz all over the house. After we
collect all the pieces of Hametz, we recite immediately the following statement in Aramaic, Hebrew
or English; use the language that you understand.

:‫ ִל ְּב ִטיל ְּו ֶל ֱה ֵוי ְּכ ַע ְּפ ָּרא ְּדַא ְּר ָּעא‬,‫ ְּד ָּלא ֲחמי ֵתיּה ּו ְּד ָּלא ִבי ַע ְּר ֵתּה‬.‫ָּכל ֲח ִמי ָּרא ְּד ִא ָּכא ִב ְּרׁשּו ִתי‬

Hebrew:
‫ ׁ ֶשֹּלא ְּר ִאי ִתיו ְּוׁ ֶשֹּלא‬,‫ָּכל ָּח ֵמץ ּו ְּשא ֹור ׁ ֶש ֵיׁש ִב ְּרׁשּו ִתי‬
.‫ ִי ְּת ַב ֵטל ְּו ִי ְּה ֶיה ַכ ֲע ַפר ָּהָא ֶרץ‬,‫ִב ַע ְּר ִתיו‬

English: All leaven which is in my possession, which I have
neither seen nor removed, and about which I am unaware,
shall be considered nullified and ownerless as the dust of the
earth.

The next morning, take the 10 pieces of Hametz plus any
other Hametz left over in your house and dispose it by
burning it or flushing it down the toilet. Then, you read the
statement:

.‫ ַד ֲח ִזי ֵתיּה ּו ְּד ָּלא ֲח ִזי ֵתיּה‬.‫ָּכל ֲח ִמי ָּרא ְּד ִא ָּכא ִב ְּרׁשּו ִתי‬
‫ ִל ְּב ִטיל ְּו ֶל ֱה ֵוי ( ֶה ְּפ ֵקר) ְּכ ַע ְּפ ָּרא‬.‫ְּד ִב ַע ְּר ֵתיּה ּו ְּד ָּלא ִב ַע ְּר ֵתיּה‬

:‫ְּדַא ְּר ָּעא‬
