KADESH

When the Seder falls on Friday night, the Kiddush begins with “Yom Hashishi”.
The sixth day. So the heaven and the earth were finished, and all their array. By the seventh day God
completed His work which He had done, and He abstained on the seventh day from all His work
which He had done. God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because on it He abstained from
all His work which God created to make.
When the Seder falls on a weeknight, the Kiddush begins with “Lel Shimurim” followed by “Eleh”.
These are the festivals of God, holy convocations, that you are to designate them in their times.
With your permission, distinguished people: (To Life)
Blessed are You HASHEM our God, King of the Universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine.
Blessed are You HASHEM our God King of the Universe, Who sanctified us from among all
peoples, exalted us above all tongues, chose us and made us great, desired us and glorified us.
And You, HASHEM our God, lovingly give us, festivals for happiness and holidays and seasons
for rejoicing, this holiday, a holy convocation, this day of the Festival of Matzot, the season of
our freedom, with love, a remembrance of the Shemot from Egypt: for You have chosen us and
sanctified us from all peoples, and Your holy festivals You granted us and with happiness and
rejoicing. Blessed are You HASHEM, Who sanctifies Israel and the Seasons.

When the Seder falls on Saturday night, we add these two blessings.
Blessed are You HASHEM our God King of the Universe, Who
                                    creates lights of fire.
Blessed are You HASHEM our God King of the Universe, Who
distinguishes between holy & secular, and between light and darkness,
and between Israel and the Gentiles, and between the seventh day
and the six days of work. From the sanctity of Shabbat to the sanctity
of this holiday, and from the seventh day to the six days of work you
have sanctified. Blessed are You HASHEM, Who distinguishes between holy and holy.
On both nights, we conclude with this blessing while having in mind the mitzvot of Matza, Maror
and Sefirat Ha’Omer.
Blessed are You HASHEM our God King of the Universe, Who has given us life, and sustained us,
and brought us to this season.
