It is customary among Sephardic Jews to sing the statement “Bibhilu Yatzanu Mimitzrayim” as the
head of the household raises the Seder Plate and passes over the heads of those seated round the
table. Usually, the Seder Plate goes around the table 3 times, while everyone sings the “Bibhilu”.
In haste we left Egypt. This is the bread of affliction. We are free men!
Some families have the custom of singing the Piyut “Yom Zeh” before doing the “Bibhilu”.
