An Afternoon in the Lagoon                                     Yesterday

        The water reflects the light                                   Yesterday, I met dear Death.
        All the animals gather round the lagoon, to drink to their delight  She seemed happy to add one more to her cult.
        The trees surroundings the banks suddenly come alive           I was out of breath.
        As all the creatures come out, together they thrive.           And I knew she was not the one I could consult.

        The scenic lagoon with its little waves of tide                But I had not expected her to smile at me,
        Feels so serene and calm as the panther and the deer stroll along   And say that this shouldn’t be the way.
        side                                                           I had open arms and was finally greeting Thee,
        The fish and the turtles swim gracefully, in and out through the   But Death wouldn’t let me, she guided me away.

        It’s a wonder to watch how the frogs and beetles sit on Lilypad   Then she moved ahead,
        surrounded by florals.                                         The grass shrivelling up and turning black.
                                                                       And with the aura widespread,
        Dolphins jump in the sky as the bear cubs’ claw at the salmon   Even the pool of blood went slack.
        Fireflies lighting up the dark jungle is quite common
        Leaves sway as all the animals leave to rest for the night     She came up to me, but didn’t kiss me yet
        And get ready for the next day to start right.                 To take my soul afar.
                                                                       Death just smiled again like before we met,
        The mountains rise out of the ground and tower above the clouds  A part of my memoir.
        As all the animals drink and are in harmony without any doubts
                                                                       She bent down to meet my face,
        For Tomorrow it might be another day                           And her hood fell back.
        As they might be hunted by poachers, or have their home de-    Her scythe gleamed, and towered over space,
        stroyed                                                        But she kept it down in the depths of the crack.
        But today and for now, they are in peace and overjoyed.
