any educators today are facing a lot
of hurdles, especially the seniors, who
Mwere already finding it arduous to
adapt to online typing, smart classes, commu-
nication through emails and many other things.
I’ve been teaching for seven years now, and
most of my friends have already spent more
than a decade in this field. It was a chalkboard
when I started but the very next year, we moved
to typing question papers on word, emailing and
smart class.
I quickly adapted myself to most of it and my friends and students ap-
proached me to know more about it. Now, when I’m teaching online during
a pandemic - whether it’s through Extramarks, Zoom or Google meet, I am
able to use most of its features and whenever I get free time, I keep practis-
ing on it. Practice doesn’t make a man perfect - It makes anyone who does
it, perfect.
Our sole purpose as an educator in life is to share and be open to elucidations.
So, remember; inspiration and learning can happen at any time and in any
place. Don’t be hesitant to ask your kids, cousins or for that matter, your
ex-students. This is their world; they know technology way better than us.
Webinars are an angel in disguise, I have learnt a lot of teaching techniques,
and online hacks for teaching by attending them. Many of them are free, all
you need to do is a register and you can watch it on your phone or laptop.
The added bonus is that you end up getting a participation certificate along
with upgrading yourself. YouTube and Google are two friends which we all
need to have; you can call them anytime and they like any true friend, they
will give you the best advice. You will find ample resources to give you that
little push that you need. Don’t we all do that? When a child struggles, we
give him that little push.
My worksheets or lesson plans are no more in black and white, Times New
Roman or font 12. I use infographics and different font styles and the kids
love it. Don’t hold yourself back from using it for higher grade students -
they love going back to basic.
So, how did I adapt so quickly to the great change? By asking questions! We
encourage children to ask questions. So, should you.
