ASCENSION PARISH
Ascension Parish is a rare gem located right off I-10
between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and lies on
both sides of the mighty Mississippi. Rich in history,
our Historic District of Donaldsonville is home to 50
blocks of buildings dating from 1865-1933. While your
there, shop for antiques, visit primitive artist Alvin
Batiste, and the River Road African American Museum.
Then, come over to the other side of the river and shop
at Tanger Outlets or attend a family fun event at Lamar
Dixon, home of the Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Stop in for some warm beignets and café au lait, at The
Cajun Village. The Cajun Village is home to a multi-
tude of unique boutique shops all housed in Historic
Acadian Buildings, and to two live alligators! Less the 4
miles away, our crown jewel, Houmas House Plantation
and Gardens, was recently named one of Louisiana’s
“10 Best attractions by USA today Reader’s Choice
awards.” The award winning Sugar palace provides its
guest with some of the finest dining, accommodations,
gardens, and home tours in the South. With a multitude
of other museums, attractions and authentic southern
cuisine, Ascension offers a gumbo of all cultures
unique to the south. Come Let our little secret be your
big adventure!
