Martin’s granddaughter, Nia
Carrousel Mary Martin and Carrafella John Martin’s granddaughter, Nia,
will be graduating Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Howard University

in the Spring of 2023. She is majoring in elementary education with a
minor in political science. Nia served as the Howard University School of
Education Council President for 2022-2023, and she facilitated over 30
social, mental health, service, and professional development events for

over 200 School of Education students. Nia was a congressional Intern
for Washington Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. She was a staff writer
for the Liberator Political Review and Nia published several articles. Nia is
planning to attend Georgetown University Law Center in the Fall of 2023

to pursue a legal career in civil rights legislation. We are extremely proud
of Nia and all of her accomplishments.

Carrousel Mary Martin and Carrafella John Martin’s grandson
is a freshman at CY-Ranch High School in a Houston, Texas

suburb. He had a very successful freshman track season. After
having a “golden“ night, where he collected five gold medals
at one track meet, his coaches promoted him to the school’s

varsity track team. As a result, Xavier was part of his school’s
4x200 relay team that advanced to the end of the season
area competition - the only freshman from his school to do so.
Xavier is an awesome young man, and we are so proud of his
achievements. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
