The 1st annual First Responder Challenge, presented by National
Grid, took place on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at TD Garden. This
first of its kind event invited local first responders from all over
New England to participate in the rigorous course. Family and
friends were invited to participate in a day of fun and activities,
like an 85 foot kid’s obstacle course and police and fire vehicles
for them to explore. The Bruins mascot, Blades, was on hand for
autographs and photos in front of the 2011 Stanley Cup Banner.

The MSP team did very well. They ran the stairs and concourse,
all the while singing cadence led by Trooper Fanning and Trooper
Yuri Buhkenik. Everyone on the team had a great time at the
event, as did the friends and family who enjoyed the games and
activities which took place on the Garden floor.

The MSP team is currently the leading fundraiser. The winning
team will get their names etched on a First Responder “Stanley
Cup” and will drop the puck on First Responder Appreciate Night
at the Garden when the Bruins face-off against the Arizona
        Coyotes.

The Bruins Foundation has been in awe of the dedication and
support the Massachusetts State Police “family” has shown to
this event. The MSP team has been likewise awestruck by the
immense support provided by all of our families, friends, and
supporters who made this most worthy cause a tremendous success. Special thanks to the Bruins Foundation
        for making this event possible.
The 100 Club of Massachusetts is a humble organization. They don’t seek recognition for the incredible work
they do. They support families of first responders killed in the line of duty and do so while staying out of the
“lime light”. If you would like to learn more about this great organization, go to http://100clubmass.org/.
