A Dedication to Trooper Thomas L. Clardy
Trooper Thomas L. Clardy was a husband, a
father, a son, a member of the Massachusetts
State Police family, and so much more.
On March 16, 2016 Trooper Clardy was
conducting a motor vehicle stop on the
Massachusetts Turnpike when his cruiser
was struck from behind, forever altering
the life of his family, robbing his wife Reisa
of her husband, his children of their father,
his parents of a son, and the Massachusetts
State Police of a beloved brother.
Two years later, on March 16, 2018,
a memorial stone was unveiled
at the Massachusetts State Police
Barracks in Charlton, honoring
Trooper Clardy and ensuring his
service and sacrifice will never
be forgotten. Governor Charles
Baker opened the ceremony and
was followed by a number of other
officials in praising Tom, not only
for his work as a Massachusetts
State Trooper, but also for the
amazing family man he was and for
his contributions to his community.
The Massachusetts Department
of Transportation dedicated a
bridge and the roadway behind the
Charlton Barracks in his name. The
ceremonies and the dedications
were a fitting tribute to a man who
dedicated his life to service, as a
family man, a United States Marine
and a Massachusetts State Trooper.
