2. Intransitive Verbs
A verb that does not require an object
because the sentence's meaning can be perfectly
understood. Verbs that include intransitive verbs
include: Shine, come, sit, boil, sleep, fall, cry,
etc.
Example Explanation
➢ The baby cries Cries: intransitive verb
➢ My mother is Is sleeping: intransitive verb
sleeping.
➢ The water boils Boils: intransitive verb
Several intransitive verbs use objective
nouns, which have a unified meaning with the
verb. The object is called a Cognate Object.
