DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Everyone has a legal duty to work safely and comply with STS and Jacobs safety
standards on the project. You need to plan your work activities using the SPA form,
there are templates to assist you in completing them and STS supervisors and the
safety team will help and guide you if required. SPA’s need to be completed before
you start your task and be updated whenever circumstances change, such as
hazardous interfaces, new hazards become apparent which require additional control
measures.
Your STS supervisor must sign off the SPA when you have completed it.
It is your responsibility to check all work equipment such as step ladders, hop-ups,
electrical tools etc. before use, ensuring they are in good order and safe to use. Some
work equipment such as MEWP’s requires the operator to undertake a formal
inspection and record the finding of the inspection of the MEWP’s inspection form.
Make sure your record the correct serial no. and complete both sides of the form.
NEVER use faulty work equipment, report all defects to your STS supervisor who will
organise a replacement or repair.
