Page 20 - The Hope Springs Gang Battle The Black Swamp Monster
P. 20
She went back down to the creek puddle edge and the next time
Maisie swam past the Dog-Father netted her and dragged her in to
the bank.
The Dog-Mother then put a lead on her and took her up the bank
and tied her to a tree while she went back for another one. If she
hadn’t done this, Maisie would have been back in the creek puddle
before the Dog-Mother could get back there.
It was getting quite dark by now and the Dog-Parents who had been
working on the farm all day were very tired – and very grumpy – but
all the dogs seemed quite oblivious to this fact.
They would not help the Dog-Parents and get out of the creek
puddle voluntarily. Each one had to be netted and dragged in and
then tied to a chair or the fence or a tree until they were all out.
They were all black and slimy and stinky with the black swamp
monster all over them! You could not even tell they were dogs
anymore. They all looked like miniature black swamp monsters with
oozy, goozy thick slimy, slithery mud dripping off them. They
shook themselves and mud splattered everywhere!
