                            A t  these  novel  movements  Whitey  and

                         Schnapps  looked  on  wonderingly  and  so  did

                         make  of  the  affair.  That  Erebus  should  allow

                         anything  like this  to  go  on  under  his  very  nose,

                          without  instantly  offering  fight,  and  calling  on

                         them  all  for  help,  was  what  they  could  not

                          ing  rapid  strides  towards  civilization.

                             But  this  little by-play was speedily put  an  end

                          to  by  the  driver  summoning  the  dogs  to  be

                          attached  to  the  sledge.           Then  they  were  all
