SOFFIT / FASCIA
EAVESTROUGH & DOWNSPOUTS
SOFFIT
This is the section of material seen underneath the overhang of the roof, between your wall and
the outer edge of the roof. Soffits are an integral part of your exterior, often acting as the “intake”
of fresh air into the attic space, contributing to a properly balanced ventilation system.
Typical soffit material is aluminum, steel or wood. Soffits are available in many color options to
compliment your exterior project.
FASCIA
Fascia are the “facing” boards at the eaves and gable ends. These boards are cladded with
material such as aluminum, Smart Board™ and Cedar. Your architectural design style and budget
will determine the material used for cladding the fascia.
Soffit and Fascia cladding can be used as an accent color to compliment rooflines. Optionally they
could also match the trim accent color, or you could even choose to blend the soffit, fascia and
siding color for a simpler look. With this monotone color scheme, you may want to add a few
wood or stone details for interest. Either way, the soffit and fascia material and colors can be a
great way to visually enhance the exterior color scheme and appeal of your home.
EAVESTROUGH & DOWNSPOUTS
Eavestroughs, sometimes called gutters, are located at the bottom of the roof edge and are
fastened to the Fascia board. Rain and melted snow flows from the roof in to the eavestrough.
Eavestroughs are installed with a slight slope to direct the water into the Downspouts. The
Downspout is a vertical drainpipe that is positioned to further channel and direct the water away
from the walls and foundation of your home.
When installing an Eavestrough and Downspout System, careful consideration is taken to
calculate the roof area and in turn the water shed capacity. This calculation will determine the
number of Downspouts required and their locations, ensuring adequate flow and proper drainage.
Eavestroughs and Downspouts come in a variety of colors to complement your exterior.
