Compared to the current scenario of the

building, this scenario also does not in-
clude the presence of security cameras. It
takes into account the changes to be made
to the USquare premises, i.e. improving
the existing entrances, as well as opening
up the sealed walls in order to create more
entrances to the former military complex.
The building becomes part of the USqua-

re project, both through a physical con-
nection as well as through its programme.

There is no barbed wire on top of the
walls, which have partly been opened up.
Looking into the park and enjoying the
view is at all times possible. The installa-
tion of the park with playgrounds, the li-
brary, and the wood workshop have inte-
grated previously lacking amenities in the
neighborhood. Both at the front door as
well as inside the building or in the park,

        meeting spaces are created.

The downside of this scenario is the lack of
        programme for undocumented migrants.
        Federal regulations hinder the provision
of housing and other activities for this
group. We also assume here that without
programme this group does not have a

destination in the neighborhood, and the-
refore won’t go there. As a consequence,
no spaces for potential interaction have
been integrated in the second set of maps
        (below).

                                                                                                                  45
