The Friendship Mission Trip to Wandouw, Papua New Guinea.
            The 3-group NJE’s Trip Team.
The other neighbouring country visited and served by NJE was Papua New Guinea
(PNG) to the village of Wandouw, in April 2017. In general PNG area being visited was
an isolated and rather backward place compared to all villages which had ever been
visited by NJE in Indonesia. In order to reach the place one had to cross a natural
forest, sail several small and big rivers, lake and swampy areas. One had also to start
the journey to Wandouw from Sota i.e. the most eastern town of Indonesia, near the
border of Indonesia-PNG, which has the East Null Point.
In principle the journey from Sota to the borderline with PNG could be
implemented by means of a car up to the Null Point Landmark, in the last village
where the Indonesian military basis existed. Afterthat one had to continue the
journey by motorcycles (trailers) to cross the forest after leaving the border (the Null
Point of Sota) which would take around 2 hours. In practice the journey consumed
more than a half-day to reach the meeting point at the bank of a very small river of
2-4 meter width in the forest where the speed boat man had to wait our team. There
were basically 3 groups in the team i.e. the PNG Wandouw group of people who
                                                     st
came down to Sota by bicycles and on foot (1 group), the GPdI Merauke-Sota’s group
