Magic in the Kitchen
JAXON IS STILL standing at the bottom of the stairs, staring at the living room. Okay, now what?
He doesn’t know whether to be excited or scared.
Heck, he thinks, if Gran gave me this magic necklace, then she’ll be there to help me if I get in
trouble. “Right Gran?” he asks in a whisper. He looks around half expecting her to answer him.
Jaxon remembers to take a breath to calm down. He smiles thinking about his grandmother.
“This is all fine and dandy, but I’m thirsty as heck, hungry too.”
He turns, walks into the kitchen to get a glass of orange juice and a bowl of cereal, and stops
dead in his tracks.
The curtains are missing and other stuff, too. And there’s a weird looking refrigerator in there.
Like super old.
He goes to the counter, grabs a glass, and pours some of the orange juice someone left on
the counter. He picks up the glass and walks over to take a closer look at the funky-looking
refrigerator.
“What kind of refrigerator is this?” he says out loud to no one in particular.
