FROM OUR PIONEERS
Last month saw our Pioneers take a deep dive in learning about 'What lives under the Sea?', where they were able to discover and learn about several different types of marine life. The children continued to let their imaginations thrive and creativity grow! They worked collaboratively to make a 3D model of the rainbow fish, as well as extended skills including their pincer grasp through activities including writing, drawing and painting; cutting while making star fish and jellyfish.
Social/Emotional Development
An important focus within the Pioneer room is children's social and emotional development as we prepare them for Kindergarten.
Recently, we have been approached by families who are either in the process of completing their enrolment forms or thinking about which school they would like to have their child attend in 2020. Key discussion points and questions from parents have included: The application process and how to apply for an out of area school, how to know if your child is ready for school, what you can do to support school preparation and what to do if your child isn’t accepted at your preferred school.
Please RSVP to our Transition to School Event which will be held at DMW on Thursday 2nd May from 4:00pm. We have invited a panel of representatives from local primary schools who will be able to provide information about the enrolment process, their own Kindergarten programs and answer any questions you may have.
To support all our families in the transition process, please share your child’s prospective school with Miss Amanda. We will be creating a display in the Pioneers room so that families can connect with other children going to the same school. As always, any questions or feedback are welcomed!
