Unit 2: Chatting on the Phone

Phone services can be used to keep in touch with family members and friends.
Many people enjoy having phone conversations while some prefer having face-to-
face discussions. Express your own view about chatting on the phone.

Answer A:
I like chatting on the phone because it is convenient. First, it saves much time. I usually call
my friends when I want to talk about what’s in or when I want to share a problem. I just dial
a friend’s number on the phone and wait for someone to pick up. I don’t have to go to their
houses or meet them somewhere. Going out with friends just to talk about things is a bit time-
consuming. Also, I can bring my cell phone anywhere, so I can use it wherever I go. When I
feel bored during a trip, I can always use my phone to chat with anyone. One time, my date
was late for a meeting. While waiting, I used my phone to keep myself busy. My friends also
tell me I have a good telephone voice. That makes me want to chat more on the phone! I think
these benefits of chatting on the phone make me make it as a hobby.
